Moth's Butterfly Exhibition, 2021
Lembitu Street
Tallinn
Tallinn
You are walking in the city, on your way home. You turn the corner from Lembitu Street into Kauka Street. It’s getting dark. Up ahead you see a light. Actually, there are a number of lights. In the windows of a first storey flat, there is an installation of lamps and objects that glow in the twilight. Maybe, this is a moths’ disco? Maybe you’ve stumbled upon the nightlife of moths and other creatures of the night? You look up and recognise materials sourced from the everyday – empty plastic bottles, beer cans, woollen yarn, leftover lengths of cord and string – all cobbled together in an everyday, make-do-kind-of-way.
It’s the Moths’ Butterfly Exhibition. You didn’t expect this. You thought it was an ordinary evening and that you were just going home.
